In my haste to get cosplay and panel-planning done, I almost forgot about the tea party that’s happening at Animazement! Whilst figuring out what to wear, I discovered there were quite a few different coordinates for the same dress that I was thinking of. So! I’ve decided to ask my beloved readers and friends to choose for me! Pick your favorite of the three outfits, and if there’s anything you would like please tell me! I might not end up changing whatever it is, but I love input. I also included a little bit of my thoughts on each outfit, and pros and cons.
Outfit 1: Hime Lovely
Kind of different, right? I made the underskirt a while ago, and I wanted to try it out with this outfit.
Pros:
Comfortable! No blouse = cool.
Tiara! I love it.
Kind of different, not your average loli coord.
Cons:
Not super keen on the underskirt with it, looks not quite fancy enough.
Not the most comfortable shoes :C
Any stocking suggestions? I tried it with white, but it just looked weird.
Outfit 2: Cutie Pie
A pretty cute, simple outfit! It’s also fancy enough for me to feel like wearing it for an everyday outfit would be a little much.
Pros:
Something similar to what I wear everyday, so pretty comfy.
Comfy shoes and socks!
It brings out both the pink and white in the print.
Cons:
Blouse will probably get hot.
Kind of average? Not as much excitement.
The pearls hit my glasses :C
Outfit 3: Ahoy there!
A nautical coord! I altered this jacket a while ago, and haven’t gotten much use out of it, so I thought I’d try it out!
Pros:
I like the nautical look, it’s not something I do often!
The jacket is comfy, and removable in case of heat issues.
Purse! I love my pirate chest purse.
Cons:
These socks need a garter belt to stay up, which isn’t super comfy :C
I’m not super keen on the hat, I’d consider putting together a little sailor hat instead, or sewing a new pirate hat.
There’s nothing actually nautical about the print haha.
SO! Leave me a comment telling me whichever outfit you think is best, and if you would change anything about it! I’m pretty excited about this, and I’ll also be counting some votes from facebook/lj/friends, so if the comments don’t reflect the winner, that’s why! I’ll announce the winners on Monday, May 24th, which is a week from today, so get your votes in by then!

I like number 2!! I love the purse, hat, and socks. Those are my favorite parts!

Thank you Jamie :D

I say #3 because who doesn’t like sailors. and Outfit #1 looks like it would be too hot to wear, even inside the building.

Haha excellent reasoning. It’s actually less warm than #2 believe it or not. The blouse under the jsk makes it pretty warm, the skirt for some reason doesn’t bother me as much.

I would pick the outfit number 2 but with the tiara instead of the headdress with the pearls. =3
makelovely said:
Ooh very nice choice! I’ll have to think about that.

i like number 2 too, its very cute and comfy is good^^ while i love the hat and socks, i dont fancy the purse much, a more neutral (but still pink/white) would be what i would have prefered.
sorry for my bad english.

I like that idea, I’ll have to try out some other options. Thank you!

I vote for outfit 3 because I love the hat! And I think it has the best entertainment value.
(Just found your blog -! my website is called Look Lovely, but it’s quite different.)

That’s some excellent reasoning! It’s pretty fun to wear, I must admit.
How cool! I’ll have to check it out :D

I like #3. #1 looks awkward with the underskirt IMO, it looks like your primary goal is to cover your legs, and #2 is just a basic loli outfit, nothing special.
Candy Violet’s new waist cinchers have detachable garters, that might be more comfortable than a garter belt?
makelovely said:
Thanks!
You know, I’m not really sure. I’d have to look into it I guess. I think mostly I just need to make up a new garter belt. Thanks for the tip!

I like 3 best :)

Thanks :D

I like the last one best, but i’m not sure about the hat. But don’t really know what you should do instead. :/ Maybe a big red bow? :)
makelovely said:
I do have a headband with a bow that matches this dress actually, I’ll have to try it!

I vote #3! You look so cute in it, and the relative lengths flatter your height the best, not to mention the way the jacket cinches in the waist shows off your nice figure. :D And it’s got more points of interest than #2 – it looks a bit more creative and unusual. :
makelovely said:
Thanks! It is a bit different from what I normally wear :D
Rachel said:
Definite yes for #2, maybe for #3. Like you said, there’s not really anything nautical about that print, but I like the idea :) If you could make it work with a different hat, then it would be a definite yes. If not, then #2 ^__^
makelovely said:
Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind. I do like the idea of putting together a little sailor hat, so I’ll definitely see what I can do.

NUMBAH TWO!….I really like three also. But 2 just scream Meiki!

Thank you Derin <3 We still totally have to twin this print sometime!

I really like outfit 2! So cute!

Thank you :D

Oh and on another note- you could always try sock garters. Sockdreams.com sells them. I have a pair that I love (white with buttons), and I want to try and make my own.
makelovely said:
You know, I actually have a pair of those, with little roses on them :D The problem is that the socks hit a weird point at my thigh where the first snap is too loose and the second snap is too tight. I might try and sew on another snap or mess with folding the socks down, but those are an excellent idea.

I think I like number three best, I just think the items you coordinated the dress with have a nice simple look that balances out the busy print. :) I suppose you could wear some other hat/hair accessory, like a headbow or a straw hat, since you’re not too keen on the little sailor hat? That might make the ensemble look a little less obviously sailor-y too if you’re a little bothered by the contrast with the print. :)
makelovely said:
Thank you! I might try it out with a headbow, I do have a red one from Baby that matches.

I like number 2 and 3 both a lot. I do wish your hair was still pink though :-( I loved the pink hair so much! Do you have to wear the blouse under the jsk in number 2? I guess I always feel like one should wear as few clothes as possible when in humid weather.
makelovely said:
I miss my pink hair too! Thank you <3 I suppose I could go without, I'm not entirely sure if the event is going to be inside or outside, and I definitely wouldn't wear it if it were outside.
