The original plan was to grow my hair out. But I’m super impatient, and thus, new hair! I used Garnier Nutrisse 43: Cocoa Bean :D It’s a nice dark brown now, all one color again. It’ll take some getting used to though, I’ve never had hair this dark! It looks kind of reddish in some photos, and more golden in others, which is pretty cool. I’m thinking about maybe getting some curly ponytail falls sometime now that it’s all one color!
I’m also officially out on fall break as of now! I’m hoping to do a little sewing while I’m home, and I’m thinking about taking my Innocent World emblem dress to be altered as well.
My head feels about 8 pounds lighter! It’s a bit longer than I planned on, but when it’s not all full of product and flat-ironed it’ll probably be a bit shorter haha. I’m hoping to do some hair styles to show off with my hair all short like this. Almost all tutorials for lolita I’ve seen have been girls with loooong hair. I know a lot of people like lolitas to have long curly hair, but I think short styles at a little bit of a sassy feel to outfits. Now I just have to get used to using less shampoo and try not to brush all the way down my neck.
I got this Meta bow in a lucky pack last year. It’s got a wire in it so it’s pretty versatile style-wise. I don’t know that I’d ever actually wear it all bent open though.
I’m getting a hair cut tomorrow! I’m a little apprehensive, because I’m planning to chop it off into a veeeery short bob. I’m thinking about halfway down my cheek short, which is shorter than I’ve ever had it. It also means I’ll have to give up all the nice hair styles I’ve been able to do lately. It’s been refreshing to be able to keep my hair off of my neck in the summer time. However, my hair is currently craaaazy. The bottom half is still kind of auburn and pretty damaged. I’ve been growing out my roots so that when I cut it off, it will mostly be my natural hair. Hopefully it will be long enough in a few months to have it cut again and then it’ll all be my natural hair, but until then I have to deal with my boring natural color and a little bit of auburn at the bottom. Hopefully I’ll have either some stellar pictures of my new hair tomorrow. I trust my hairstylist enough to do a good job, I’m just hoping the style will suit me!
The other day I embarked on a mission for curly hair! My hair is pretty short, so getting the underside in rollers doesn’t work too well, and I’ve never had much luck with heat-setting, like curling irons or hot rollers, so I thought I’d try pin-curling. All you really need is a lot of bobby pins, more for thicker/longer hair and less for thinner/shorter, and a bit of patience. You start out with a damp head of hair, not too wet or it won’t dry all the way, and then curl a small strand around your finger and pin it to your head! There’s a bunch of great tutorials on YouTube, it’s not hard but it does take a little bit of time.
Me with a full head of pins, by the light of a computer haha. Probably while watching Star Trek. I’m so rori.Sleeping on the pins was not super pleasant, but totally worth it in the end.
The results! This is after taking them down and combing them out a bit. A nice puffy set of curls!
After a picnic meet-up, some walking around campus, and lots of wind! It’s relaxed a little bit, but still pretty curly and puffy!
The conclusion: totally awesome. I love the puffy curls it gave me, it meant I didn’t have to resort to any hair-damaging heat or invest in any rollers, and the curls held really well. I’ll definitely be doing this more often.
OH HAY THAR YOU GUYZ. Why yes, that is actually my hair! Piiiiiiink! It was a pretty long process, but I am now happily a cupcake head. The dye should fade to a more pastel-y pink in a couple of weeks, which will be nice, but for now I am enjoying the bright pink! Expect less red coordinates haha.
There’s always discussion amongst lolitas as to whether or not short hair is a good thing. I personally love having short hair. Or rather, I love to grow my hair fairly long and then chop it off again (I’ve done this about 5-6 times, it’s very refreshing) so I thought I’d take a couple pictures of my normal hair supplies and how they look with short hair. Some of these things look even cuter with cropped locks!
A super-cute haircut from Rasysa. Not quite what I’m going for but I am getting my hair cut short next week! Expect a post about short-haired lolis.
Lots of Sewing! Mostly cosplay though, not much loli. But it was fun and creative none the less. I’m getting excited for my panel too!
Cute things on my Google Reader!
Summer Rain! Sitting out on the screened-in porch when it rains is one of my truly favorite things about Summer. My least favorite is bugs.
