Last weekend, for lolita day, I got an unexpected present:
Snow! This may not seem like that big of a deal to a lot of people, but here in North Carolina it pretty much only snows in January/February. So to have it snow all day long in December was so exciting! We’re in for a long, cold winter I think, there’s even a possibility of more snow on Monday. While I’m dreaming of a white Christmas (for once!) I’m also picking up some extra tips about how to stay warm and cozy while wearing lolita in the winter. I know I’ve done some posts like this before, but stuff like this is always useful I think!
Invest in good winter-wear That coat up there is super warm, it’s been a real savior in recent weeks. A nice lolita coat can be pretty expensive, even from off-brand places, but the investment is totally worth it. A lot of brands also make winter-specific dresses, fabrics like velveteen really help to hold in heat. And of course, don’t forget the extras! Flannel bloomers, scarves, hats, gloves, wool tights, etc. are all great for keeping warmer, even if they are only really useful for one season.
Layer, layer, layer! Wearing two pairs of tights, socks with tights, cardigans, hell I’ve even worn plain t-shirts under my blouses before just to add that little extra layer of warmth. Things like that really go a long way in utilizing what you currently have to keep warm.
Be careful! If the weather is really rough and you’re unsure of whether or not you can keep warm, play it safe and don’t wear lolita. Or, pack your outfit and change when you get to your destination. Prettiness is not worth injuring yourself or getting sick.

I have been looking forward to winter so much. I love to layer. I love coats and hats and Gloves and Earmuffs and … you get the idea. :D
xD I almost convinced my mom I needed a coat cause my pirate coat “Squishes my skirts” and my Capelet is “hard to move around in” :D So I might get this really cute and relatively inexpensive one from bodyline :D
Your outfit is SO cute!! And it matches the snow so well <3

I’m so excited for my coat to come in the mail! I just bought an infanta coat. I’m hoping it is nice and warm. I love your photo! It looks really cute with the dropping snowflakes in your layout!

I love that photo–it’s so pretty! Shiro in winter is one of my favorite things…particularly because it doesn’t snow where I live, sadly. -_- But I did spend two years in Kentucky for college, which is similar in that way (snow–how much and when) to North Carolina, as far as I can tell from visiting grandparents in both states every year for Christmas.
I’ll try to make a coat by next year, so I can wear lolita on our Xmas trip back east! ^^

Lol you have snow early, but today in Nebraska the high today was like 49 or something. We haven’t had any snow yet despite last year having snow since Halloween.

Haha that’s crazy! Weather is so weird sometimes.

You look so pretty in that coat! :) So cute!
I can’t sadly afford a real brand coat, but I was very lucky to find a nice coat from an ordinary shop with a reasonable price! It has a hem wide enough to fit my skirts and matches classic, but is still wearable out of lolita.
I too love wearing layers with lolita, and I have a pretty good opportunity where I live, it is -20 degrees C at the moment!

I love finding things that I can wear with or without lolita, it makes it so much more versatile!
Oh my goodness, I don’t think it ever gets that cold here haha.
